For those who were not aware, locast was a TV streaming app that allowed you to view OTA (Over the air) Broadcast TV channels. They operated as a nonprofit, since the channels were already freely accessible.
As part of this service, users could pay extra to eliminate commercials on the app.
This is the source of the current problems for locast. The courts ruled that locast cannot operate as a nonprofit, while also earning revenue.
